May this dress remind you that you and you alone are responsible for you!!

Remember, you and you alone are responsible
 for maintaining your energy.
Give up blaming, complaining and excuse making,
and keep taking action in the direction of your goals
- however mundane or lofty they may be.
Jack Canfield

you alone need to take care of yourself, your health, your heart, your life,
so please be good to yourself!

May this dress remind us how actions now will affect our future!

It is easier to build strong children
than to repair broken men [and women].

Frederick Douglass

I believe that it is PARAMOUNT that we consider the repercussions of our
government's actions in regards to separating families.
The current administration is creating at least two generations of traumatized and
damaged people which will be our responsibility.
We live in a global community and no matter where
these children and parents end up,
their pain and distress will affect us,
the United States of America, and
we will only have ourselves to blame.
I feel so strongly that the current actions on our borders are
unamerican and inhumane and must be stopped.
Also that we, as a country, need to stand up against these
menacing policies and commit to helping and healing those
families who have been used as pawns in the bully regime that
tweets out of the White House.

peace-
love, mom

Day75: You are responsible for YOU ...

"I learned a long time ago the wisest thing
I can do is be on my own side,
be an advocate for myself and others like me."
Maya Angelou
Now more than ever this is true!!! The election has turned this world inside out and upside down, taking us, as a society, back decades and us, as women, into the dark ages. You must be able to take care of yourself, be your advocate, speak up, stand up, and make sure you have the life that YOU want!!

This means being independent!! & independence comes from being intelligent, knowledgeable and financially sound.

I am sorry to say that money equals independence!!
But that is the TRUTH! and to be able to earn enough money to guarantee your independence you need to get a good job that pays you enough for you to live the life that you desire.

This doesn't mean you need to get a 24/7 demanding job that gives you a 6 figure or 7 figure :) salary, if your dream life doesn't demand tons of money. You need to be able to pay for yourself, and if you want to simpler life and have a low cost of living then you don't need to command a high salary
(BUT you must command/demand the salary that you deserve!!!)

I have heard there was a study of the correlation between income/net worth and happiness.  The researchers found that one's happiness tops off at $75,000. The study showed that there was not a significant increase in one's happiness after $75,000. I have not read the study and i do have some questions but it also makes sense to me.

From growing up where I did, I KNOW that money does NOT bring happiness!! I saw too many screwed up folks who had, as Gommie loves to say, deep pockets!! but they were definitely not happy. That is one of those falsehoods perpetuated by media, corporations, stores ... more money means you can buy more and more stuff means you are more happy?!?!? NOT TRUE!!!

Be kick-ass my little ones!! love, mom

day22: VOTE, RECYCLE, REUSE, CONSERVE and GET INVOLVED

©virginiafitzgerald#100daysofmotherlove 2016

“I don’t know how to save the world. I don’t have the answers or The Answer. I hold no secret knowledge as to how to fix the mistakes of generations past and present. I only know that without compassion and respect for all of Earth’s inhabitants, none of us will survive—nor will we deserve to.” Leonard Peltier, Prison Writings: My Life Is My Sun Dance

I think it is easy to feel the responsibility of saving the world, especially when one is more empathic and compassionate. And as I do feel that we must live with reverence to the planet, the universe and to the people and other creatures that live on this planet, it can become thoroughly overwhelming to feel as though you alone must fix the world.

There are important things that you can and should do, such as:
VOTE, RECYCLE, REUSE, CONSERVE and GET INVOLVED
with causes and groups that are working toward changes and goals that you believe in, to name a few.

So remember that you don't need to save the world,
but you can be kind, compassionate and
a responsible citizen of the world.
love, mom
