some draaaawings (as Patti Smith might say)

it has been sooooooooooooo long since i have posted here!!! And it is not for not wanting too - lately it seems as if time just vanishes ~ poof!!!

I have been revamping my website which was MUCH needed and has been a great experience!! Looking at all the work I have done and revisiting my blogs and facebook posting on my art page.

All this review has reminded me how much I love my blogs, so when I made this drawings while helping Harriet complete a school project I thought that they would fall under the category of a Creative Every Day Challenge ~

I'm not sure what number of CEDC i am on but here is my creativity for today! Sweet dreams all!!!

Illustration Friday: Jump

Well, I was supposed to be doing my bills on Friday ~ blah!! However I had seen that the topic for Illustration Friday was "jump". So here I am jumping out of the reality of finances!!

Nothing elaborate, but I am always so happy to be doing Illustration Friday & this works for the Creative Every Day Challenge :).  Plus, so much better than paying bills! (however I still need to do that ~ blah!)

Happy weekend all & peace!!

Creative Every Day Challenge #???

it has been QUITE awhile since I was able to post a creative every day project.  in the past weeks I have been sick, traveled and moved.  I have done a few daily dresses and other creative endeavors which may or may not get posted. but for now ~ here is what I did over the weekend.

pen and ink on wax paper
then made into a dress :)
Started while sitting with my daughter @ au bon pain, this line drawing is done on one half of the tissue that you get with a pastry.  I then folded it in two and made the dress, so there is a fullness to the skirt.

Now, I am wondering what to put the dress on - sew it on a blank canvas?, on to a nice piece of Arches? I thought about putting it on top of another line drawing, maybe drawn with gray?, but that may be too much!?!?

I would like to do something more with this dress because it is a very pretty dress, with its fullness and the sheen of the wax paper.   any thoughts?

Creative Every Day Challenge #7 - in the kitchen

today's creative every day challenge revolved around food.  maybe it was the first real snow, or the delicious cookie hang-over i had from my cousin's super size dark chocolate chip cookies or maybe the leftover rotisserie chickens times two in the refrigerator but today i had the cooking bug ~ & it all turned out pretty yummy if i say so myself (the girls agree too!!! :) peace

homemade chicken potpie ~ first ever made
homemade carrot chips (like potato chips)
dark chocolate chip cookies ~ extra big

Creative Every Day Challenge #6 (a little out of focus)

a dresscard for a birthday girl!

I love the quote, not sure who Stephanie Piro is??? but I love the idea being a coffee lover myself ~ and for the dress I used a paper decorated with coffee beans.  part of my desire to try and design my own  papers  or find papers that work well with the quote ~ instead of just relying on origami papers.

Creative Every Day Challenge #5

this piece was made tuesday when i had a moment in the studio!!

my studio is in such a state - the visual equivalent to how my head and heart feel ~ so scattered, so tuesday i had sometime in which i basically 'organized'. and while coming across endless bits of paper saved and cherished i made this little card for a fellow artist :)

lately i have been adding sewing to many of my works ~ especially the subscription card pieces that i am doing so i wanted to put this piece under the needle too!!

this is what i call productive procrastination!!! but also good for the soul! peace

Creative Every Day Challenge #2

Homage to Lisa Barthelson
For today's creative challenge I did a page i my 'current' daily dress journal.  this project is where I try to create a daily collage out of the flotsam & jetsam that I come across during the day.  I started my first journal in february 2011 and I absolutely LOVE working in it, however the time/days get away from me. So I now have 4 different journal in different states of completion.

This page was done in my most newest book which is smaller (3.5 x 5.5) than the original books.  I bought a smaller size hoping that I could get back to making these collages daily - but alas.

Today's page basically created itself.  The dress is out of old polka-dotted wrapping paper that I was throwing out, the background is pattern made out of the rubbing of a wine cap ~ HobNob and the tag is from timberland which had the circle logo of a tree. Suddenly there was a circle thing happening.

The circle theme is so serendipitous because today I was thinking of my dear artist friend, Lisa Barthelson, who is getting ready for a group show ('Illuminations' work of  Lisa Barthelson, Carrie Crane,  Nina Fletcher and  Rose Lebeau, Opening Reception: Thursday Jan. 12, 2012,  5 to 7:30 pm
25 Sagamore Road, Worcester MA.)

In fact today I even sent her supportive thoughts, because we all know how crazy one can get right before a show!!  And Lisa LOVES circles, even has a photo blog dedicated to circles & she is the person who introduced me to HobNob wine.

But I had not made any of these connections until the collage was finished! WOW!!! But here it is ~ a circle piece when Lisa was so much on my mind.  And in fact she and the others from the show were interviewed on NPR and the links hit the internet today ~ http://www.wicn.org/podcasts/audio/barthelson-lebeau-and-crane-illuminations

Kind of cool how that all worked out!!
Well I definitely didn't stick to my intention of brief entries for this Creative Every Day Challenge (CEDC) - but this project is supposed to be just what it is - no rules, no stress, just creativity!!! :) (saying that for myself).
