womenwonder: Dame Millicent Garrett Fawcett GBE
On August 18, 1920 the Nineteenth Amendment was ratified here the United States, giving women the right to vote, to add their opinion, voice and wisdom to our country's democratic process. There were many brave women here and in Britain that fought for this right and as it is the 100th anniversary of women's right to vote and the year of a most crucial presidential election I intend to highlight many of these #womenwonders this month.
"Courage calls to courage everywhere, and
its voice cannot be denied."
Millicent Fawcett
The Nineteenth Amendment states: “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.” Congress passed the amendment in June 1919. The NAWSA and NWP suffragists lobbied local and state representatives to ensure its subsequent ratification by the states.
After the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment on August 18, 1920, female activists continued to use politics to reform society. NAWSA became the League of Women Voters.
** The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service

May this dress remind us to care for our small and fragile planet ... happy earth day!
Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova
(born 6 March 1937) is a retired Soviet cosmonaut, engineer, and current member of the Russian State Duma. She is the first woman to have flown in space with a solo mission on the Vostok 6 on 16 June 1963. Tereshkova also became the first civilian to fly in space as she was only honorarily inducted into the Soviet Air Force in order to join the Cosmonaut Corps.
Once you've been in space,
you appreciate how small and fragile
the Earth is.

mastery of fear,
not absence of fear."

may this dress bring us all courage to face what we need to face!
Courage is nothing less than the power
To overcome danger, misfortune, fear, injustice,
While continuing to affirm inwardly
That life with all its sorrows is good;
That everything is meaningful even if in a sense
Beyond our understanding;
And there is always tomorrow.
Dorothy Thompson
(9 July 1893 – 30 January 1961)
was an American journalist and radio broadcaster, who in 1939 was recognized by Time magazine as the second most influential woman in America next to Eleanor Roosevelt.[1] She is notable as the first American journalist to be expelled from Nazi Germany in 1934 and as one of the few women news commentators on radio during the 1930s.[2] She is regarded by some as the "First Lady of American Journalism."[3]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorothy_Thompson

day36: be courageous
One isn't necessarily born with courage,
but one is born with potential.
Without courage, we cannot practice
any other virtue with consistency.
We can't be kind, true, merciful,
generous, or honest.
Courage is an interesting concept as it affects so many aspects of our lives. I think when people first think of courage they think of a warrior or the cowardly lion, however, you need courage to do everything that you do in this lifetime. If you are not challenging yourself then most likely you are not growing, and growing is good.
It takes courage to be the first person to speak up in class,
be that person.
It takes courage to go home
when everyone else wants to continue the party.
It takes courage to say no
when everyone else wants to hear yes!
It take courage to speak your mind,
especially if it not the accepted position.
It takes courage to know when to ask for help.
It takes courage to follow your dream
and to live your truth.
Be courageous and watch what happens. love, mom

Day 6: be curious and courageous
Tuesday, June 7, 2016
may this dress bring us the courage to follow our own heart!!!!
Your time is limited; don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinion drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition; they somehow already know what you truly want to become.
Everything else is secondary.
- Steve Jobs

there are a few items that have been living on my to-do list
that I have been blatantly ignoring
which MUST be done!!!
and when I quiet myself and when I am curious about
why I am staging such an avoidance ...
the answer feels like fear.
So today I face these fears
and know good will come from doing my tasks!!!

There's something which impels us to show our inner souls.
The more courageous we are,
the more we succeed in explaining what we know.
