day53: love yourself ...

You can't punish yourself into change.
You can't whip yourself into shape.
But you can love yourself into well-being.
 Susan Skye

I have said it before and I will say it again!!
LOVE YOURSELF

When I saw this quote I knew I had to share
as it is SO important to remember!!
Especially as I believe there is the general acceptance that being self-critical is the only way to motivate yourself and it is NOT!!
Beating yourself up will not lead to positive change,
it is more detrimental.
It is wasted energy and it really undermines and
taints one's everyday experiences.

So PLEASE stop the internal berating and focus on the positive.
You, as you are, have so much to offer the world and
always REMEMBER this ...
you are amazing,
you are lovely,
you are spectacular,
you are wonderful,
you are awesome,
JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!!!
so love yourself into well-being <3
love, mom

Day 4: inhale self love

Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement. Golda Meir

This will be a reoccurring theme as it is the core to a fulfilled and mindful life, self love, self trust!!!

So much is written about when we enter the world, as babies, we knew what we needed and had an an open and deep love for life.  Then the outside world corrupted that knowing, parents (hi), communities, media, religions, schools, the list can go on and on!!!

All these outer influences fed us fear and should's and self doubt.  They did it with the best intentions, they believed that these fears would keep you safe, help society as a whole, that the restrictions would  better you.

But the truth is that you know how to take care of yourself, you know what is right for you and there comes a time when we all need to reclaim our inner trust and believe in what our heart is telling us.

You, my dear, have a strong will and a wise soul so practice quieting yourself and listening.

Love, mom

today, let's start loving who we are!!! and remind ourselves of all we are!!!

© virginiafitzgerald 2016

Stop hating yourself for everything you're not;
start loving yourself for everything you are.
Ritu Ghatourey *

(*not sure about the author of this quote)

This quote speaks volumes to me and I bet I'm not the only one.
How often we are caught up in the act of comparing ourself to others,
especially now with social media!!!

Now we have a front row seat to all the wonderful and amazing
activities and accomplishments of our friends/colleagues,
presented to us in a perfectly stylized photo.
(now it is important to remember, these are orchestrated and created
glimpses into others lives, lots of smoke and mirrors!!)

Truth be told, I find myself constantly going down the path of why can't I do THAT?
or how come I am not doing THIS? or look at how much SHE has accomplished?
boy she looks like she has it all FIGURED out?!?

So this quote resonated with me and my intention for this new year to practice
self-compassion and celebrate the authentic me.

So today not only do I wish to remind you to love you and who you are,
but I suggest that you make a list of what YOU do WELL,
take stock of
EVERYTHING you ARE!!!
(you can even write one of your unique attributes in the comments below)
so when those sneaky and creepy comparison voices pop into to your head,
you can easily respond with all you do, and do well!!!
and go on with your amazing day!!

peace,
to all you wonderful and unique beings!!!

"We ask ourselves,
who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?”
